CULTURAL SEMINARS

cultural seminars 1

We're doubling our cultural output! From this year, on top of our normal afternoon cultural and social activities, our teachers have organized a series of cultural seminars, or per-corsi, free of charge, to explore various aspects of Italian and Bolognese culture by reading newspapers, stories and novels, viewing films and listening to songs, studying specific themes in the history of Art, culture of wine and gastronomy, and much more...

A few examples of cultural seminars:

- Italian song-writing and its wealth of history and personalities. Special attention will be paid to Bolognese (by birth or adoption) cantautori, singers-songwriters such as Lucio Dalla, Gianni Morandi, Francesco Guccini and Vasco Rossi.

- The secrets of Bologna, magical city par excellence, full of little-known yet fascinating stories. We visit symbolic places, read excerpts and watch film-extracts from noir thrillers set in the town.

- Current events. We look at what's going on in Italy today in newspaper articles and view extracts from TV news and other programmes followed by a guided discussion.

Each per-corso consists of two afternoon sessions organized as follows: a first introductory session starting with various authentic materials (audio, video, newspaper articles etc.); the second session looks in more detail at specific themes and leads up to a guided discussion. Teachers will provide students with all the materials necessary to understand and contextualize the subject.
