Language (10 hours weekly)

Because of the vast proportions of the subject, the teacher will hold seminars dealing with one specific subject in class, devoted in particular to contemporary Italian literature, for example:

  • Neorealism and the Resistance

  • Italian literature by women writers, studying historical elements and a comparative analysis

Workshop (10 hours weekly)

There will be the opportunity to go to book-presentations at one of the many bookshops in town, such as Libreria delle donne, Libreria Trame or Feltrinelli and visit ancient palaces and libraries that preserve the history of Italian literature. 

You may choose to visit with your teacher:

  • Ferrara, the town where Ludovico Ariosto lived, author of Orlando furioso
    (The Frenzy of Orlando)

In addition (at extra cost), you can choose to visit towns such as:

  • The Mantua with its Festival of Literature in September
  • Florence, the hometown of Dante Alighieri, father of Italian


You will be given detailed information about the most important events concerning public readings, encounters with authors and much more.
